Friday's Child Farm is a small, privately-owned and operated sporthorse farm located near Houston, Texas and run by Beth Colle. Our goal is to produce top Holsteiner sporthorses suitable for amateur or professional riders.

The Holsteiner is a truly impressive breed that excels in any discipline and under any rider. The Holsteiners' athleticism and scope make them expert jumpers, and their natural power and grace make them equally talented in the dressage ring. The Holsteiner horse is noted for its willing, friendly temperament that makes it a very suitable horse for an amateur rider. To learn more about the Holsteiner, click here.
Our foals all learn manners and basic concepts such as leading, grooming, etc. and our horses are handled daily to ensure positive human interaction. All the foals are turned out daily, which promotes strong and healthy constitutions and good socialization.

I
began riding at age eight in the Hunter divisions, and later competed in the
Jumpers for many years. I showed at the Junior/Amateur Owner level at
shows across the country, including Indio in California, Estes Park in Colorado
and Lamplight in Chicago. During my time riding jumpers I trained with
Patricia Hanson from Ireland and also briefly trained as a working student at a
successful
Olympic
Grand Prix jumper rider's barn in England.
I later switched to training and showing in dressage. In May 2006 I sold Donja Bonita, a horse I acquired as a lightly-started four-year-old and brought up through the levels to show Prix St. Georges by age nine. I train with Julie McGee-Harkness of TopLine Training Farm, and we regularly clinic with Paula Kierkegaard. I earned my USDF Bronze Medal on this mare, we were 2004 ABIG Region 9 Third Level Amateur Champions, and third at the 2005 ABIG Region 9 Prix St. Georges Amateur Championships. After selling "Bonnie," I have focused on starting and developing my young horses, including training and successfully showing our mare Tiny Dancer to assess her rideability and talent before she became a full-time broodmare.
I am also a member of the Board of Directors of the American Holsteiner Horse Association.
My varied riding background allows me to assess hunters, jumpers and dressage horses with the amateur rider specifically in mind. Our foals are bred with the goal of creating a talented sporthorse with superior ability for professionals but also the temperament and rideability for the amateur rider.

How did we get the farm name?
There is an old nursery rhyme that reads:
Monday's child is fair of face
Tuesday's child is full of grace
Wednesday's child is full of woe
Thursday's child has far to go
Friday's child is loving and giving
Saturday's child works for its living
And a child that's born on the Sabbath day
Is fair and wise and good and gay.
Ironically, we had already chosen the farm name before our first foal was born on a Friday - I guess it fits!
