CAMIROS

Camiros was Grand Champion stallion at the l994 Holsteiner stallion approvals in Neumunster, Germany. He is a 54 bonit Premium stallion with a 9 on Brilliance and Impulsion.  Valeska IV is an important dam in Holstein having produced both Camiros and champion stallion COROFINO. His stamm of 318 D2 is one of the best known and respected stamms in Holstein. Camiros' breeding record is most impressive with 17 approved mares, 2 of which are Statespremium, and 7 Premium. He produced l8 Premium foals his first year of breeding in Holstein.  Camiros daughter Laura was the second-highest selling horse at the 2001 Verband Spring Auction.  Written by Kaye Smarslik in 1997 at the annual stallion presentation: "Camiros was the most impressive dressage prospect of all. He was totally concentrated, relaxed and absolutely correct in all his wonderful gaits-soft and happy in the bridle. A magnificent horse."

 

 

CONTENDER

The internationally famous Contender, stamm 2472, has over 170 daughters and 23 approved sons.  At least 16 offspring have already won in dressage and jumping "S" level competition.  In 1996 a Contender offspring sold for 170.000 DM at auction and in 1997 an unapproved son sold for 160.000 DM.  His offspring have won over 300.000 DM in prize money.  Contender won his 100 Day Test and is first in his age group for production of successful offspring.  From Rossow: "Significant sire with fabulous lines, good expression and great presence.  Overall sire of exceptional class.  Top conformation.  Very well balanced, regular strides...Jumps as his pedigree would dictate with great ability, form and skill.  Produce: Really good foals of his type.
 

 

 

VALESKA IV

Stamm 318d2.  Valeska IV is one of the most famous mares in Holsteiner breeding.  She was a successful showjumper herself before producing the approved stallion sons Camiros and Corofino.

CONSTANT

Stamm 18b1.  Chestnut, born 1972, approved 1975.  Dr. Rossow's stallion book describes Constant as "an expressive sire with good lines, good face...  Strong, flexible musculature...   Good temperament and willingness to work.  Great success as an open (S) jumper.  Extremely tight with front end, brilliant with knees.  Produce: Offspring are large framed horses that can jump and have long, efficient strides.  Generally of his type."  Constant was a successful international showjumper under both Dr. Michael Ruping and Hans-Gunther Winkler.  He was then sold to Switzerland where he won the Swiss Regional Cup ridden by G. Zuger.  Constant was also a popular stallion in Holsteiner breeding.

 

 

 

CALYPSO II

Stamm 6582.  From Rossow: "Typy stallion with tremendous personality and powerful appearance...Good lines with a clear, smooth shoulder, wither and loin...Fabulous mover...Great performance accomplishments in jumping.  Naturally, marvellous to ride (a trait which he successfully transmitted).  Calypso II is a prepotent stallion.  All offspring are endowed with springy, energetic gaits and possess enormous jumping ability.  They are also suitable for dressage."  Calypso II won the Federation's young stallion jumping test.  Calypso II appears in the pedigrees of many successful Holsteiners both in the jumping ring and the dressage arena.  Among his approved sons are Contender, Coriolan (sire of Coriander), Calimero and Caribo.

 

 

 

GOFINE

Gofine is a highly successful producer.  In addition to Contender, she is also the dam of the approved stallion Cornetto.  Gofine also produced several internationally known showjumpers: Ulina, Lago, Frechdachs and Florenza.

 

FERNANDO

  Stamm 5401.  From Rossow: "Short coupled and supple...Very good mover in trot and canter...Good under saddle.  Scope over fences.  Produce: Notable broodmare sire.  Offspring are solid horses with jumping ability and good movers...Some fabulous, State Premium mares."  Fernando sired the approved stallions Fabio I and II.

 

 

 

 

 

 

OPTION

Stamm 318D2.  Option is the dam of the approved stallion Coriano (sire of Irish stallion Condios).  She is also the mother of the showjumper Cartouche-Mb, as well as three States Premium mares (including Valeska IV).

 

 

 

COR DE LA BRYERE

The legendary Selle Francais stallion that made an unbelievable mark on the Holsteiner breed.  Known for his tight, spectacular jumping style with great bascule.  Over thirty approved sons and two hundred approved daughters!  Although he is most well-known for his jumping progeny, he also produced dressage horses (including the individual 1988 Olympic silver medalist Corlandus).  Dr. Rossow says: "Description: "Corde" is a stallion with great presence, good medium frame and energetic masculine expression.  Good face with fabulous, quiet eye, rather small ears...  good shoulder...  Good front legs...Good basic gaits.  Marvelous riding horse qualities.  Spectacular jumper with scope, tight with front end, bascule and sharp with knees.  Produce: Corde is a top sire.  Offspring usually mirror his type with good frame and size.  Good basic gaits...Get have been very successful in all disciplines to extent that for years he has been listed among the top German sires, based on the winnings of his offspring.  His heritage of rideability, handiness, form and bascule over fences aided in bringing the Holsteiner breed to even greater international importance.  Sired many good stallions and mares for the breed.  Unfortunately, because of their rideability, many good daughters went into competition and were not bred."  By the famous Thoroughbred Rantzau who goes back to Dark Ronald.  On his dam's side appears the great French jumper sire Furioso.  An inimitable force in Holsteiner breeding.

 

ELLA

Stamm 18b1.  Ella had six foals, including three stallion sons.  Her first foal was the stallion Constant, followed by the stallion Tarento (Tumbled xx).  Tarento, also known as Torbozo, sired the international jumper Poker ridden by Markus Beerbaum.  Her other stallion son was Randers (Ronald).  Her daughter Ulla (Corde) produced the stallions Serrano (Sympatico) and Quantum (Quidam de Revel).  Ella's daughter Nato is the granddam of the stallions Cool Man (Contender) and Sandos (Silbersee).

 

FARNESE

Stamm 1866.  From Rossow: "Description: Imposing, big framed, most important of all sires.  Good face, strong neck, good shoulder and back... strong, well muscled hind quarter.  Good legs with big feet.  Excellent, ground covering trot, good canter...  Pleasant to ride... Good temperament.  Produce: Prepotent sire par excellance!  The best type-sustaining stallion endowed with the Holsteiner performance assets, especially in trot and jumping ability.  Reproduced his type in all his offspring with all his strong points...Good sized, well set on necks with good faces...All show tremendous gaits and occasionally extraordinary jumping talent.  Sire of many competition horses especially out of refined mares.  Good Farnese daughters have especially made an impact on the breed.  15 approved sons, 194 approved daughters."

 

 

 

RAMIRO

Stamm 776.  From Rossow: "A very tall, important sire with enormous presence.  Extremely elegant modern riding horse type.  Impressive in all aspects...Well formed, efficient croup.  Strong bone, good legs and feet...Really good mover in trotGenerous canter with huge, expressive jump in stride Fearless over fences with extraordinary ability.  Good under saddle.  Good disposition and temperament.  Tremendous performance accomplishments in international jumping, especially puissanceQuiet disposition.  Produce:  Ramiro is a prepotent sire.  Offspring big framed and reflect his type.  Almost all endowed with spectacular jumping ability...He is the most popular stallion in West Germany and his sons as well as daughters have enriched nearly all the warmblood breeds in Germany."  Ramiro sired the approved stallions Rasputin, Rebel Z, Renomee, Romanow, Romantiker, Romino, Ronald (sire of Rocadero) and more.

 

 

 

LORD

Stamm 1298.  From Rossow: "Elegant sire with the importance of an international class Thoroughbred type.  Great presence with good lines...Expressive eye, classic, long, riding horse neck.  Very good coupling from shoulder to wither to croup...Spectacular moverExtraordinary jumping ability Tremendous performance achievementsFirst rate, international class 3 day event horse.  Produce:  ...all endowed with enormous jumping ability...Many first class jumpers."  Lord sired 58 approved stallion sons and 32 international competitors!  Among these is Livius, team bronze medal winner at the 1984 Olympics.  The WBFSH ranks Lord as 12th in the world for producing jumpers and 13th for dressage.

 

 

 

COLT

Stamm 242.  Bay, born 1964, approved 1966.  From Rossow:  "Description:  Medium sized stallion with large frame.  Loaded with muscle, good shoulder and croup...Very free in the shoulder.  Strong enough bone, correct legs and feet.  Good gaits.  Good temperament.  Strong, sound constitution...Good performance horse type.  Produce:  Due to his fine breeding still to be found in pedigree's of today's competition horses.  Prepotent even with mediocre material.  16 approved daughters."  Stamm 242 is known for producing top performance horses; Colt comes from the Diastolchen branch of 242 by way of his dam Ulana, a daughter of Diastolchen. 

 

 

 

DORETTE

Stamm 18b1.  Produced the stallions Farn (v. Fax II) and Roman (v. Ramzes AA).  Farn went on to sire the great stallion Nimmerdor who influenced breeding all over Europe.  Dorette also produced the daughters Adrette and Ella.  Adrette (v. Heilbutt) is most famous for her stallion son Ronald.

 

FÄHNRICH

Stamm 2004.  From Rossow: "Description: Very tall, heavy sire with totally harmonious topline and good stallion expression.  Great substance.  Very beautifully shaped back suited for a saddle, well muscled.  Strong bone, correct legs and feet.  Good walk and canter, very good trot.  Rather large feet.  Very rideable in spite of his size.  Produce: Mostly reproduced his type with smooth toplines and fabulous, energetic gaits.  6 approved sons, 76 approved daughters."  Other stallions from stamm 2004 include Ariadus, Cromwell and Ratibor.
